In 2008, Robert Joseph chairs two Wine Challenges: the Central Europe Wine & Spirit Challenge in Poland, and the second India Wine Challenge, to be
held in Delhi and London in October and November 2008. Tasters for this
event, organised in conjuction with Montgomery International and sponsored by Sommelier India, include such top international and Indian wine experts as Gina Gallo, John Forrest, Mike Ratcliffe, Vanya Cullen, Subhash Arora and Magandeep Singh.
The International Wine Challenge,
which Robert Joseph launched in 1984, has grown to become the biggest wine
competition in the world, with over 9,000 entries. Although he retired
from co-chairing the London competition in 2005, since 1997, Joseph has run
over 20 Wine Challenges in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan,
Thailand, Russia and Poland. Most of these have had a dramatic impact
in countries with no history of professionally run, genuinely impartial
blind tastings of this kind.
